Fatal Hit-and-Run Under Investigation in Texas City; Suspect Vehicle Located at La Marque Motel

The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian crash that occurred early Saturday morning on the northbound feeder road of Interstate 45 in the 400 block of Gulf Freeway.

At approximately 6:30 a.m. on June 21, 2025, an off-duty Galveston Police Department officer discovered the body of a 36-year-old white male on the roadway. The vehicle involved in the collision had fled the scene and was no longer present when authorities arrived.

Deputies responded and initiated an investigation with assistance from the Sheriff’s Office Crash Team, Major Crimes Unit, and Crime Scene Unit.

Through investigative efforts, detectives located the suspected vehicle at the Super 8 Motel in La Marque, Texas. The vehicle displayed damage consistent with having struck a pedestrian. Two individuals at the location were interviewed by detectives.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The investigation remains ongoing, and charges are pending as the case develops.
