Fatal Gulf Freeway Crash: Vehicle Engulfed in Flames, Driver Pronounced Dead

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 15900 Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) around 12:50 a.m. today (April 19).

The identity and gender of the deceased driver are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

According to initial reports, a Ford vehicle, the model of which is currently unknown, was traveling northbound on the freeway at the specified location when it collided with the wall of the HOV lane entrance. The impact caused the vehicle to catch fire, and despite the efforts of Houston Fire Department paramedics, the driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
