Fatal Crash Under Investigation in Southeast Houston on Thanksgiving Day
Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at approximately 2 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day at 10600 Martin Luther King Boulevard in southwest Houston. The victim, a 42-year-old female, lost her life in the incident.
The identity of the deceased is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
According to witnesses, the woman was driving a black Volvo S80 southbound on Martin Luther King Boulevard when she reportedly ran a red light at the intersection of Airport Boulevard.
Preliminary findings from the investigation suggest that the Volvo struck a curb, veering to the left before entering a grassy median and colliding with a tree. Emergency responders had to extricate a passenger from the vehicle, cutting out a portion due to the impact with the tree.
The woman driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. Two other passengers from the Volvo were transported to an area hospital, with one in critical condition. Presently, there is no evidence of alcohol involvement, and no charges are anticipated since the driver did not survive.
