Fatal Collision Investigated as Tractor-Trailer and Ford F-150 Clash in Northeast Houston
Police are currently investigating a fatal crash that occurred earlier today at 200 McCarty Street in northeast Houston, near the I-610 North Loop. The incident took place at approximately 6:35 a.m. on December 5, 2023.
The victim, a 33-year-old male, has yet to be officially identified pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. The tragedy unfolded when a white tractor-trailer truck, heading southbound on McCarty, came to a stop with its left turn signal activated, intending to make a left turn onto Portwall Street.
Subsequently, a blue Ford F-150 collided with the rear of the trailer, resulting in the Ford catching fire. A passerby helped to extinguish the flames. Emergency services transported the Ford’s 29-year-old driver to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center.
The driver succumbed to injuries and was pronounced deceased at the medical center. The male driver of the 18-wheeler, aged 29, emerged from the incident unharmed. Following questioning, he was released by authorities.
