Fatal Car Crash on Woodedge Drive in Northwest Houston Under Investigation

A tragic incident occurred early Monday morning in Houston resulting in the loss of a life.

At around 1:00 AM on February 12, 2024, Ricky Freed was driving a 2001 Nissan Pathfinder along the 9800 block of Woodedge Drive in northwest Houston. Initial reports suggest that Freed might have been driving above the speed limit as he approached a curve in the road. He failed to maintain control of his vehicle, causing it to veer off the road into a grassy ditch. The vehicle then flipped onto its left side before colliding with a tree and a metal fence.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find Freed trapped inside the vehicle. He was found with no signs of life.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division has launched an investigation into the incident. As of now, the case remains open as authorities work to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the crash.
