Details of the Incident:
Special Traffic Investigators (STI) are looking into the collision that occurred at I-10 East MM #18. Preliminary findings indicate that the Dodge Charger, which had a flat tire, was parked on the center median while a male pedestrian was changing the tire and others were warning traffic to slow down.
Vehicle 4 slowed down to assist the pedestrians. Vehicle 1, a Ford Mustang, swerved left to avoid Vehicle 4, entered the median, and collided with the Charger and three pedestrians. The Mustang then struck another vehicle and continued eastbound before becoming disabled on the right-hand shoulder near the Porfirio Diaz overpass. The driver of the Mustang fled the scene on foot, leaving the vehicle behind.
Perla Vasquez was pronounced dead at the scene, while Saul Sigala Jr. and Donovan Sigala were transported to University Medical Center with severe leg injuries. The other two pedestrians, Daimien Sigala and Aylin Jauregui, were not injured.
