El Paso 19-year-old Man Arrested After Fleeing Traffic Stop and Resisting Arrest
In El Paso, a 19-year-old man, identified as Julio Frias from East El Paso, was arrested last Friday after fleeing a traffic stop conducted by a DWI task force officer. The incident occurred in the area of Vista Del Sol when the officer observed Frias speeding on a motorcycle, traveling at 55MPH in a 35MPH zone. The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but Frias refused to comply and drove away at a high speed.
The officer lost sight of Frias, but later encountered a traffic crash at the intersection of Vista Del Sol and Bob Smith. To the officer’s surprise, Frias was present at the crash scene. When the officer tried to take Frias into custody, he fled on foot. Bystanders assisted the officer in capturing Frias after a brief foot pursuit and struggle.
During the arrest process, Frias managed to break free from the officer and attempted to escape once again. However, additional officers quickly caught up to him, leading to a second struggle. Frias was eventually subdued and taken into custody.
Frias has been charged with two counts of evading arrest and two counts of resisting arrest. It is important to note that Frias was not involved in the vehicle accident. He was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility following his arrest.
