Driver and Passenger Face 16 Charges Following Freeport Police Pursuit
On November 27, 2024, a Freeport Police Department officer initiated a traffic stop for a minor traffic violation. During the stop, the officer detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and asked the driver to step out. The driver fled the scene, leading officers on a pursuit down Highway 332 toward the Freeport Beach Buc-ee’s.
The fleeing driver attempted to turn around during the pursuit, striking the officer’s patrol vehicle, and continued driving into oncoming traffic. The chase ended when the vehicle struck a barrier, at which point the driver and a passenger were taken into custody without further incident.
During the investigation, law enforcement seized multiple illegal substances, including methamphetamine, crack cocaine, synthetic marijuana, marijuana, and pills such as Xanax and codeine.
The driver and passenger are facing a total of 16 charges combined. The Freeport Police Department was assisted by the Brazoria County Constable Precinct 1, Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety (TXDPS), and a local task force.
