Deputy Shoots Subject After Violent Confrontation in Orange County

On Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at approximately 8:01 a.m., the Orange County Sheriff’s Office received a dispatch call regarding a male subject, known to have a history of mental health issues, making threats toward neighbors.

At 8:20 a.m., an Orange County Sheriff’s Deputy arrived at the scene and began speaking with the subject. A violent confrontation ensued, during which the Deputy was assaulted. The Deputy discharged his firearm, resulting in the subject being pronounced dead at the scene.

The Deputy has been transported by ambulance to receive treatment for multiple injuries. The Texas Rangers are conducting an ongoing investigation, with assistance from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
