Deputy Seriously Injured in Atascocita Crash; Suspect Detained for Intoxication
Last night, Sunday, January 28, 2024, Deputy Leon from the Harris County Constable Mark Herman’s Office sustained serious injuries when a driver crashed into the back of his patrol vehicle.
Deputy Leon was assisting the Atascocita Fire Department conduct traffic control near Atascocita Road and Eagle Springs Pkwy just before 10:00 pm.
Deputy Leon was blocking the west lane of traffic on Atascocita Road and had his emergency lights on, along with the Fire Engine emergency lights. The suspect was traveling westbound, failed to control his speed and struck directly into the back of the patrol vehicle.
The suspect, 33-year-old Dustin Lukavsky, who displayed multiple signs of intoxication, was detained at the scene, but had to be transported to the hospital due to his injuries.
Deputy Leon was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries.
A blood warrant was obtained and executed for a specimen of his blood. Further investigation revealed Lukavsky also had two previous DWI convictions on his record.
Lukavsky left the hospital after treatment and is currently WANTED by law enforcement for his third offense of Driving While Intoxicated. If you have any information regarding his whereabouts, you are urged to contact (281) 376-3472 or your local law enforcement
