Deputy Rescues 100-Year-Old Woman Stranded in Flooded Ditch in Montgomery County

On July 9th at approximately 4:00 p.m., the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a female motorist who reported being stranded in a water-filled ditch after accidentally driving off a dirt road. The woman, who could only say she was lost, explained that water was surrounding her vehicle and had risen to the door handles.

Deputies used the woman’s description of her surroundings and a phone location ping to begin an urgent search. Deputy Parent ultimately located the vehicle with the driver, a 100-year-old woman, still inside. She had been sitting in cold, muddy water for several hours and was unable to exit the vehicle on her own.

With assistance from the Woodlands Fire Department Technical Rescue Team, Deputy Parent helped extract the woman from the vehicle and transfer her to medical personnel. She is now safe and recovering with her family.

The Sheriff’s Office credited the rapid response to deputies’ familiarity with their assigned patrol areas.
