Crash on Houston’s South Loop West: Stolen Vehicle Pursuit Ends in Fatal Rollover; Two Teens Dead

In the early hours of January 12, a fatal crash is under investigation by the Houston Police at 7590 South Loop West (South Interstate Highway 610 West). The incident occurred around 12:55 a.m.

The identities of the deceased have not been disclosed as authorities are pending notification to family members. The victims include a 19-year-old male driver and a 16-year-old male passenger, both pronounced dead at the scene by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

The incident began when Southeast patrol officers noticed a stolen vehicle in the area of the Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) and Park Place Boulevard. Attempting to conduct a traffic stop, the driver fled from police at a high rate of speed. The pursuit led the suspect driver to the Gulf Freeway, where he attempted to exit onto the 610 South Loop northbound entrance ramp.

The suspect lost control of the vehicle, striking the left barrier and causing the vehicle to roll multiple times. The driver and the left back seat passenger were ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead by responding Houston Fire Department paramedics. An 18-year-old male front passenger and a 16-year-old female back right passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital.

No other vehicles or individuals were involved in the crash. The investigation is ongoing, and further details will be released as they become available.
