Confrontation While Parking Vehicles Results in Shooting, One Arrested for Aggravated Assault
Charges have been filed against J’Darrius Peoples, an 18-year-old male, in connection with a shooting and assault incident that occurred at 3004 Greenridge Drive on Tuesday, October 24, at approximately 5:30 p.m.
Peoples now faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 180th State District Court.
The incident left a 21-year-old male victim with a laceration to his lip, and he received immediate treatment at the scene.
The Houston Police Department (HPD) responded to a shooting call outside Sunny’s Food Store at the aforementioned address. Preliminary information suggests that the victim and a male suspect, later identified as J’Darrius Peoples, engaged in a confrontation while parking their vehicles. Peoples allegedly produced a firearm and struck the victim in the face with it. In the ensuing struggle, the victim was able to discharge the weapon, resulting in multiple gunshot wounds to Peoples. Peoples had already been transported to a hospital with gunshot injuries before officers arrived at the scene.
Peoples’ condition was later determined to be stable at the hospital. It was discovered that he had four open felony warrants. Following consultation with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, charges were officially filed against Peoples in connection with the shooting incident. After receiving treatment for his wounds, Peoples was transported to the Harris County Jail.
No charges were filed against the male victim in this case.
