Collision Claims Life in Mid West Houston: Police Probe Reckless Driving Incident

A fatal crash occurred in Mid West Houston on Tuesday (March 12) at around 7:45 a.m., prompting an investigation by Houston police. The incident took place at 2700 Dunvale Road.

The deceased, identified as a male, was driving a black Hyundai Sonata westbound on Westheimer Road. He ran a red light at the intersection of Westheimer and Dunvale, colliding with a white Chevrolet Express van that was turning left onto Westheimer from Dunvale. The impact caused the Hyundai to spin and overturn, leading to the ejection of the driver, who was later pronounced dead by paramedics. Fortunately, there were no other injuries reported in the accident.

Prior to the crash, an HPD patrol officer had noticed the Hyundai driving recklessly on Westheimer Road. The officer attempted to pursue the vehicle using emergency equipment but was unable to catch up. The driver of the Hyundai was observed running multiple red lights before the fatal collision.

The identity of the deceased male is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
