Chambers County Deputies Assist in Arrest of Houston Men Suspected in Violent Robberies

Chambers County Sheriff Brian Hawthorne reports that deputies assisted in the apprehension of two Houston men suspected of committing a series of violent robberies in Beaumont and Port Arthur.
On Tuesday, April 22, 2025, Chambers County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to an alert from the Beaumont Police Department regarding two suspects, identified as 30-year-old Tyre Hartley and 30-year-old Hakeem Thomas, traveling westbound into Chambers County.
Authorities say Hartley and Thomas were allegedly involved in multiple violent “jugging” incidents at bank locations in Beaumont and Port Arthur prior to entering Chambers County. 1 One of these incidents resulted in minor injuries to a 5-month-old child.
Working with the Beaumont Police Department’s Real Time Crime Center (RTCC), Chambers County deputies located the suspect vehicle along I-10 and conducted a safe apprehension without incident. Beaumont officers then transported the suspects back to Jefferson County, where they were booked into jail on charges of Aggravated Robbery.
Sheriff Hawthorne praised the interagency cooperation, stating, “We are proud of the strong collaboration between agencies and thankful to both the Beaumont Police Department and the Port Arthur Police Department for their commitment to apprehending dangerous individuals—even beyond their jurisdictions. This case is a prime example of how swift, coordinated communication between law enforcement partners helps keep our communities safe.”
