Capital Murder Suspect Arrested in Austin After Multi-State Fugitive Manhunt
Bennie Humphrey, a 32-year-old man wanted for capital murder in Montgomery, Alabama, has been arrested in Hutto, Texas, following an investigation led by the U.S. Marshals-led Lone Star Fugitive Task Force (LSFTF).
Humphrey was a suspect in a double capital murder case, with warrants issued for his arrest on October 25 by the District Court of Montgomery County. The Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force (GCRFTF) in Alabama developed information suggesting Humphrey had fled the state and was possibly heading to Hutto. They immediately requested assistance from the LSFTF-Austin Division.
LSFTF members tracked Humphrey to the 6500 block of County Road 110 in Hutto, where he was taken into custody without incident. Humphrey was transported to the Williamson County Jail and will await extradition to Montgomery, Alabama, for further judicial proceedings.
The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force includes members from local, state, and federal agencies, including the Austin Police Department, Georgetown Police Department, Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, and U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement.
