Body of Man With Tattoos Identified, Beaumont Police Investigating as Homicide
Victim: Johnny Tomlinson

In a grim discovery on Sunday, October 29, 2023, at 6:46 p.m., Beaumont Police were called to the area of Avenue C and Crockett Street after receiving a report about a deceased person. Responding officers arrived on the scene and found the remains of a significantly decomposed white male in a small wooded area. The circumstances surrounding the individual’s death immediately raised concerns, and it is now being treated as a homicide.

To aid in the investigation, the Beaumont Police Department’s Persons Detectives, Special Assignments Unit (SAU), Identification Unit (ID), and the Jefferson County Crime Lab all responded to the scene.

Yesterday, detectives took a significant step by releasing descriptions and sketches of the victim’s tattoos, hoping to glean information that could help establish his identity. Following this release, valuable information was received, enabling detectives to confirm the identity of the deceased individual as Johnny Tomlinson, a 65-year-old local transient.

Now, investigators are urging anyone who might have information about Johnny Tomlinson’s whereabouts between October 15th and the date of discovery, as well as any known associates, to come forward. Those with information are encouraged to contact the Beaumont Police at 409-832-1234.
