Austin Police Needs Help Identifying Mail Theft Suspect

The Austin Police Department is seeking the public’s help in identifying a suspect involved in a case of mail theft that occurred at 2401 Aldrich Street. The incident took place on Wednesday, January 3, 2023, at approximately 3:57 a.m.

According to detectives, the suspect, whose photo and description have been released, entered the mail room of an apartment complex. Utilizing a mail master key, the individual opened all mailboxes and made off with a substantial amount of mail.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 20s. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie, black jeans, Nike gray tennis shoes, and a pink beanie cap.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward and submit tips anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program. Tips can be submitted online at austincrimestoppers.org or by calling 512-472-8477. A potential reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to the suspect’s arrest.
