Austin police have arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with a deadly shooting at a downtown hotel that left a 19-year-old dead earlier this week.

Officers with the Austin Police Department and Austin-Travis County EMS were called to the Cambria Hotel at 68 East Avenue just before 7 a.m. Monday after receiving a report that someone had been shot. When officers arrived, they found Luke Bradburn, 19, suffering from severe gunshot injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:33 a.m.

Homicide detectives and crime scene specialists responded and began interviewing witnesses and processing evidence. Investigators determined that earlier that morning, Bradburn had been driving a vehicle belonging to Maximillian Salinas when it was involved in a crash. Bradburn and other occupants reportedly fled the crash scene and returned to the Cambria Hotel.

According to police, Salinas later arrived at the hotel and shot Bradburn.

On Tuesday, January 6, detectives arrested 20-year-old Maximillian Salinas, who was charged with murder. No additional details about a motive have been released.

This case is being investigated as Austin’s third homicide of 2026.
