Man Wanted for Killing Father and Stepmother Arrested at Cypress Poker Club
Murder suspect taken into custody by Deputies

UPDATE: The suspect was identified as 39-year-old Benjamin Frakes. The victim’s were his father, 72-year-old Franklin Frakes, and stepmother, 57-year-old Florentina Frakes.

On Tuesday, May 20th, an adult male suspect has been taken into custody in connection with the double homicide of a husband and wife found deceased in their Spring-area home on Friday, May 16. The suspect, whose name has not yet been released, faces two counts of Capital Murder.

Sergeant Pleytez and Sergeant Kelley with Constable Mark Herman’s Office arrested the suspect following a warrant service at the Dog House Poker House in the 27100 block of Northwest Freeway. The Deputies responded to the location following a report from an individual who stated that a man involved in the murder of two of his family members was inside the establishment playing poker. A search of the suspect revealed a sizable quantity of illegal substances, including cocaine, alprazolam (Xanax), Oxycodone, and other unidentified drugs. Deputies also discovered two firearms inside the vehicle he had driven to the poker club.

Deputies with Constable Mark Herman’s Office initially responded to a call in the 4000 block of Fitzwater Drive at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 16. Upon arrival, they discovered a husband and wife, both in their 50s, deceased from gunshot wounds inside their residence. Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez later announced that the incident was being investigated as a double homicide, noting that one of the rear doors to the home appeared to be damaged. The investigation led authorities to the identified suspect.
