Arrest Made in Fatal Shooting on Broadway Street: Suspect Charged with Murder

A suspect has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a man that occurred on May 8 at 2100 Broadway Street around 7:10 p.m. The suspect, identified as Jorge Alberto Acosta, 54, has been charged with murder in the 179th State District Court. The victim has been identified as Sebastian Maquin-Cuz, 38.

Houston Police Department (HPD) patrol officers responded to reports of a shooting at the specified address and found Maquin-Cruz lying unresponsive in the grass with a gunshot wound. Paramedics declared him deceased at the scene.

Witnesses reported that Maquin-Cruz had engaged in a verbal altercation with an unidentified suspect before the suspect pulled out a firearm and shot Maquin-Cruz at least once.

Subsequent investigation led authorities to identify Jorge Alberto Acosta as the suspect. On May 22, Acosta was apprehended and confessed to his involvement in the shooting. He has since been charged and booked into the Harris County Joint Processing Center.
