Disabled Teen Suffers Chemical Burns in Friendswood Assault, Suspect Arrested
On May 20, 2024, the Friendswood Police Department responded to a call involving an 18-year-old disabled male who had been assaulted by a friend. The male’s family member reported that a chemical substance had been thrown into his eyes, potentially causing permanent vision loss.
The incident occurred while the male and two friends were walking around the Forest Bend neighborhood. One of the friends, identified as 17-year-old Branden Jolly stole a package from a nearby porch and opened it, finding a container with a powder substance inside. Jolly then threw the substance on the disabled male. The victim pushed Jolly to distance himself, but Jolly threw the contents of the container into the victim’s face, causing severe eye pain.
The victim was taken to a local hospital’s burn unit for treatment of chemical burns to his face and eyes.
On May 22, 2024, Friendswood Police arrested Branden Jolly. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office has accepted felony charges against Jolly for Injury to Disabled.
