Arrest Made in Fatal Shooting and Robbery Case on Eastex Freeway

On October 18, 2023, Timothy Anderson, a 31-year-old suspect, was arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of 33-year-old Armando Rodriguez, Jr. The incident occurred on July 27, 2023, at 9278 Eastex Freeway (North U.S. Highway 59) service road at approximately 2:20 p.m. Anderson has been charged with capital murder in the 487th State District Court.

The Houston Police Department responded to a robbery call at the aforementioned location. When officers arrived, they discovered Armando Rodriguez, Jr. with at least one gunshot wound. Paramedics rushed the victim to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Witnesses at the scene reported that a black male suspect in his 30s had robbed Mr. Rodriguez, then shot him before making off with the victim’s vehicle. The stolen vehicle is described as a 2007 white Honda Accord with Texas license plates MPT-2517.

After a thorough investigation, Timothy Anderson was identified as the primary suspect in this case. Notably, Anderson had been taken into custody by the HPD Crime Reduction Unit on an unrelated charge on Thursday, October 12. Following conversations with homicide detectives, he was subsequently charged in connection with the fatal shooting.
