Arrest Made in Deadly Hit-and-Run on Lyons Avenue
A suspect has been arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred at 7200 Lyons Avenue in northeast Houston around 6:05 p.m. on Tuesday, February 6th. The suspect, identified as Nicolas Lopez Martinez, aged 50, faces charges of failure to stop and render aid.
The victim, Ms. Salas, was a pedestrian walking on the sidewalk at the mentioned address when she was struck by a silver Nissan Rogue exiting a private parking lot. The driver, later identified as Lopez Martinez, fled the scene following the incident. However, thanks to the efforts of patrol officers, the suspect was apprehended shortly after.
Emergency medical services rushed Ms. Salas to an area hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.
Following questioning, Lopez Martinez was taken into custody and transported to the Harris County Jail. He has been formally charged in connection with the hit-and-run incident. Authorities have indicated that additional charges may be forthcoming pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
