Arrest Made in Connection with May 2023 Fatal Shooting at Gas Station on Westheimer Road; Second Suspect Still at Large

In connection with the fatal shooting of Davion Scott on May 30, 2023, one of the two suspects has been taken into custody. Derrick Trumaine Jackquet, 27, is charged with murder in the 338th State District Court. The other suspect, Marquel Deshawn Ponder, 30, also charged with murder in the 482nd State District Court, remains at large.

On the night of the incident, Houston Police Officers responded to a shooting call at a Citgo gas station located at 13103 Westheimer Road in West Houston. Upon arrival, they discovered Davion Scott, 24, inside his vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds. Mr. Scott was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the preliminary investigation, two suspects exited a blue 1990 Chevrolet Caprice. One suspect fired shots at Scott’s vehicle from near the passenger door, while the other approached the driver’s side and shot him at close range. The suspects fled the scene in the Chevrolet, heading eastbound on Westheimer Road.

Marquel Ponder was identified during the initial investigation and charged on June 13. The second suspect, Derrick Trumaine Jackquet, was identified later in the investigation and charged on November 13. On December 21, members of the HPD South Gessner Patrol Division Crime Suppression Team apprehended Jackquet, who is now booked into the Harris County Jail.
