Armed Robbery at Matamoros Taco Truck: Austin Police Seeks Public Assistance

The Austin Police Department (APD) Robbery Unit is seeking the public’s help in identifying a suspect involved in an armed robbery at the Matamoros taco truck, situated at 9400 N IH 35 SB frontage road. The incident occurred on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at approximately 12:38 a.m.

The suspect, described as a Hispanic male aged between 20 to 25 years, standing at approximately 5′ 8″ tall, and weighing 180 lbs with a medium build, demanded money from two employees. The suspect, a fluent Spanish speaker, brandished a black handgun and fired a single shot inside the trailer before fleeing the scene on foot.

The suspect was last seen wearing an orange or peach-colored sweatshirt with white lettering that reads “DESTIN Florida.” Additionally, he wore black jeans with white design or fraying at the sides, a blue-green and gray shirt wrapped around his head as a mask, and red and black sneakers.
