Argument Over Stolen Property Leads to Shooting in Chambers County
Sheriff Brian Hawthorne reports that on May 14th, at approximately 8:50 AM, Chambers County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to a shooting incident on Hamilton Street in Winnie, TX.
Upon arrival, deputies detained the suspect and secured the scene. Statements and evidence were collected, revealing that suspect Jim Martin engaged in an argument over possible stolen property with the victim.
Martin allegedly struck the victim with a garden tool and discharged a pistol in their direction during the ongoing dispute. Fortunately, the victim was unharmed, and no other injuries were reported.
The Chambers County Sheriff’s Office processed the scene, and Martin was subsequently arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, family violence. He awaits arraignment in Chambers County Jail.
