Amarillo Police Officer Chaz Garrison Named Andrea’s Project Officer of the Quarter for DWI Arrests and Traffic Safety

In October 17, 2023, Amarillo Police Officer Chaz Garrison was honored with the prestigious Andrea’s Project Officer of the Quarter award. The recognition comes in appreciation of Officer Garrison’s unwavering dedication to ensuring safer streets in the community.

During the period from July 1, 2023, to September 30, 2023, Officer Garrison achieved remarkable accomplishments. He made a total of seven Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) arrests and had 108 traffic contacts, contributing significantly to the overall safety on the city’s roads.

The award was presented by David Elizalde, the founder of Andrea’s Project, a local grassroots non-profit organization that aims to raise awareness about the perils of drinking and driving. The organization was established on June 15, 2019, following a tragic incident in David’s life. His daughter lost her life in a car crash when a drunk driver lost control of their vehicle on Easter, April 21, 2019.

David Elizalde’s profound loss spurred him to create Andrea’s Project, which seeks to educate young people on the dangers of drinking and driving and find practical solutions to reduce the number of DWI incidents, not only in Amarillo but across the entire state of Texas.

In recognition of Officer Chaz Garrison’s outstanding efforts in keeping the community safe, David Elizalde commended him for his commitment. During the award presentation, Officer Garrison was presented with a plaque as a token of appreciation for his unwavering dedication to making Amarillo’s streets safer.
