Amarillo Man Gets 35 Years for Sexual Assault of 10-Year-Old

RANDALL COUNTY, Texas – A Randall County jury convicted Hoang Thanh Trinh on November 5, 2025, on multiple counts of sexual offenses against a 10-year-old child and sentenced him to a total of 35 years in prison.
Trinh was found guilty of:
- Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child (First-degree felony)
- Two counts of Indecency with a Child (Second-degree felonies)
The offenses stemmed from an incident in 2021 when Trinh sexually abused a 10-year-old child at an Amarillo residence.
Victim’s Courage and Stacked Sentence
Despite the offenses occurring in 2021, the case was delayed because an adult, upon hearing the disclosure, told the child to keep the abuse secret so Trinh would not go to prison. The child eventually told a friend, who successfully notified another adult and secured help.
- Trial Testimony: The child victim bravely testified during the trial, despite Trinh being present in the courtroom.
- Sentence: The jury assessed the punishment, sentencing Trinh to 30 years for Aggravated Sexual Assault and 5 years for each count of Indecency with a Child.
- Stacking: Judge Titiana Frausto of the 181st District Court ordered the 5-year sentences to run concurrently but stacked them consecutively with the 30-year sentence, resulting in a total of 35 years of confinement.
The Randall County Criminal District Attorney’s Office commended the child’s courage and the “brave friend” whose report finally brought the offense to light.
The case was investigated by a dedicated detective from the Amarillo Police Department and involved collaboration with multiple agencies, including the Ennis Child Advocacy Center and the Ennis Police Department.
