Man Arrested After Shooting at Constable and Landlord in La Marque

On March 17, 2025, at approximately 1:00 p.m., the La Marque Police Department responded to the 2300 block of Rosalee in La Marque following reports of gunfire.

Investigators determined that a Galveston County JP 3 Constable’s Office Sergeant was attempting to serve an eviction notice when a suspect on a bicycle arrived at the apartment complex and fired a handgun at the constable and the landlord. Approximately five shots were fired before the suspect fled the scene on a bicycle.

La Marque Police officers located the suspect in the 500 block of Bayou Road. When officers attempted to apprehend him, the suspect abandoned his bicycle and fled on foot. Officers pursued and successfully detained the suspect, along with the firearm believed to have been used in the incident.

The suspect, identified as William Rudd, 28, of La Marque, has been charged with Evading Arrest ($2,500 bond), Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon ($75,000 bond), and Aggravated Assault of a Peace Officer ($75,000 bond).

The La Marque Police Department reported that no injuries occurred during the incident.
