Humble Shooting Leads to Murder Charge After Fatal Altercation

On Saturday, February 8, 2025, at approximately 9:00 PM, Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Investigators responded to a murder investigation at 12211 Glen Crossing Circle in Humble, TX, following multiple 911 calls reporting gunshots and a possible disturbance. Upon arrival, deputies from Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office detained an adult female and a juvenile male from inside the residence, while two young children were also removed from the home.

Inside the house, an adult male was found unresponsive on the kitchen floor with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite efforts from EMS, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Moments later, another adult male was detained at a car wash behind the residence. A handgun and magazine were recovered nearby.

Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide and Crime Scene Investigators interviewed witnesses, processed the scene, and obtained a search warrant for the home. Investigators determined that a verbal altercation between two males escalated when one of the men pulled a handgun and shot the other multiple times. The shooter attempted to flee and discard the weapon, but was unsuccessful.

The adult male shooter, identified as Collin Smith, was transported to the Harris County Sheriff’s Homicide Office for questioning. Following the investigation, the Harris County District Attorney’s Office charged Smith with Murder. He was booked into the Harris County Jail. An autopsy will be conducted within 24 hours to confirm the cause and manner of death.
