Suspect Arrested in Fatal Shooting, Second Victim Wounded in Alief Area Incident

Houston police have arrested Carlos Chavez, 28, in connection with a fatal shooting and the wounding of another man at 10005 Beechnut Street in the Alief area on November 7. Chavez has been charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 232nd State District Court.

The deceased victim, identified as 23-year-old Jadrian Edwards, was found with gunshot wounds inside a vehicle at the scene. A second victim, also 23, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

HPD patrol officers responded to the shooting call at about 4:10 p.m. and found both victims in the vehicle. Paramedics pronounced Edwards dead at the scene. An adult female and a child who were also inside the vehicle were uninjured.

Through further investigation, Chavez was identified as the suspect. On November 21, charges were filed, and Chavez was arrested on November 22 by HPD Gang Division officers without incident. He has been booked into the Harris County Jail.
