Fatal Crash in Northwest Houston Involves Motorcycle and Two Vehicles

A motorcycle rider was killed in a collision involving two vehicles on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at approximately 6:02 p.m. in the 100 block of Jones Road.

Robert Muniz III, driving a black 2020 Toyota Camry, was stopped at the intersection of S Main Street with his father, Robert Muniz Jr., as the front passenger. Kenneth Wardlaw, operating a gray 2007 Yamaha V Star 1100 motorcycle, was traveling northbound on S Main Street. Deborah Witt was driving a green 2014 Ford Escape in the same direction.

As Muniz attempted to make a left turn onto S Main Street, he failed to yield the right of way and crossed into the northbound lanes. The Toyota was struck by Wardlaw’s motorcycle in the back left quarter. Wardlaw was thrown from the bike, landing in the right traffic lane. The motorcycle came to an uncontrolled stop and was then struck by Witt’s Ford Escape.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene and found Wardlaw, who was not wearing a helmet, with no signs of life. He was pronounced dead at 6:08 p.m. Muniz and Witt were unharmed in the crash and are cooperating with the investigation.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division is continuing to investigate the case.
