Suspect Arrested in Fatal Shooting at South Side Apartment Complex

Akeem Boothe, 42, was arrested and charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting of a 37-year-old man on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 5610 Palms Street on the South Side.

At approximately 6:30 p.m., Houston Police Department patrol officers responded to reports of a shooting at an apartment complex. Upon arrival, they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound on a staircase. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Witnesses reported that the victim had been involved in a verbal altercation with another male. The suspect, later identified as Boothe, walked to his apartment, retrieved a firearm, returned to confront the victim, and shot him.

HPD officers detained Boothe at the scene. After consulting with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, charges were filed, and Boothe was booked into the Harris County Jail. The victim’s identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
