Aldine ISD’s Family and Community University Earns Statewide Recognition

On Wednesday, October 16, Aldine ISD’s Family and Community Engagement (FACE) Department received the Promising Practice Award at the Parent and Family Engagement (PFE) Statewide Conference hosted by Region 16. The award recognizes their innovative project, The Family and Community University (FCU), for its transformative approach to adult education.

The PFE council, established in 2018, aims to strengthen collaboration between families, communities, and educators to enhance Texas students’ development as lifelong learners and productive citizens. Aldine ISD was one of several districts recognized, alongside Lufkin ISD, Rockdale ISD, and Spring Forest Middle School.

“It was truly an honor to receive this award,” said Georgina Foroi, Executive Director of FACE. “This is our fourth year bringing FCU to the district, and seeing how it has empowered our families and made a difference in our communities makes our efforts feel that much more rewarding.”

At the conference, FCU members, including district parents and a teacher, facilitated a breakout session highlighting the program’s impact. The session showcased how the initiative fosters transformative growth for families, extending the benefits of education to students’ home environments and beyond.
