Son Arrested for Assault After Argument Over Car Keys Turns Violent in Santa Rosa
On Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at approximately 15:50hrs, Cameron County Sheriff Deputies responded to a disturbance call at a residence on the 18000 block of FM 506, Santa Rosa, Texas.
Upon arrival, deputies encountered a 61-year-old female victim who reported an argument with her 24-year-old son, Ryan Muniz, stemming from his misplaced car keys.
The victim alleged that during the altercation, Mr. Muniz became aggressive, forcefully grabbing her wrists, causing pain and discomfort. Sheriff Deputies observed marks on the victim’s wrists supporting her account.
During the investigation, Mr. Muniz returned to the residence, and Sheriff Deputies, in the process of obtaining the victim’s report, engaged with him. Muniz admitted to the argument but denied physically assaulting his mother. Sheriff Deputies also interviewed Muniz’s children, who affirmed their father’s forceful actions toward their grandmother.
Subsequently, Sheriff Deputies arrested Ryan Muniz and transported him to the Carrizales Rucker Detention Center, where he awaits arraignment. Muniz faces a charge of Assault Family Violence TPC 22.01, classified as a Class A Misdemeanor.
