Convicted Felon Charged With Aggravated Robbery After Threatening Employees With Knife

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A convicted felon was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery after allegedly threatening store employees with a knife while attempting to steal merchandise, according to Constable Mark Herman’s Office.
Deputies responded on June 8 to the 11500 block of Bammel North Houston Road after receiving a report of an aggravated robbery in progress.
While en route, deputies spotted the suspect leaving the area and quickly detained him. Investigators identified the suspect as 27-year-old Demarcus Colbert.
According to authorities, Colbert allegedly threatened employees with a knife after being confronted about stealing merchandise from the business.
During his detention, Colbert complained of a headache and said he was not feeling well. Deputies transported him to a local hospital for medical evaluation.
While receiving treatment, Colbert allegedly intentionally spit on a nurse, according to the constable’s office.
Colbert was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail on a charge of aggravated robbery. His bond was set at $60,000 by the 248th District Court.
“Our deputies acted quickly to locate and apprehend this dangerous suspect before anyone was seriously injured,” Constable Mark Herman said. “Threatening employees with a weapon during the commission of a theft is a serious crime, and this arrest demonstrates our commitment to protecting businesses and keeping violent offenders off our streets.”
