Man Jailed After Sexually Assaulting Elderly Woman Walking Dog at Austin Park

AUSTIN, TX — A 24-year-old man faces a litany of felony and misdemeanor charges after Austin police linked him to multiple predatory attacks at a local park, including a physical assault on an elderly woman walking her dog and an exposure incident targeting a mother and child.
Jacoby Duane Lacy was captured Monday afternoon and is currently booked into the Travis County Jail on a high felony bond.
Daytime Park Attack on Elderly Resident
The initial emergency call came in on Monday, June 1, 2026, at approximately 12:42 p.m. Austin Police Department (APD) patrol officers rushed to the Copperfield Park area in Northeast Austin after an elderly woman reported being targeted while walking her dog.
According to police reports, an unknown male—later identified as Lacy—approached the woman and forced her into conversation. The encounter quickly escalated when the suspect exposed himself and began hurling inappropriate sexual remarks at her. When the victim attempted to flee the area, Lacy stalked behind her, overtook her, and made unwanted sexual physical contact.
Responding officers flooded the park and successfully located and detained Lacy nearby. Detectives from the APD Sex Crimes Unit took over the primary scene alongside Austin Forensic Science Crime Scene Specialists, who processed physical evidence and executed multiple search warrants.
Following the initial field probe, Lacy was booked into jail on charges stemming from the park attack:
- Attempted Aggravated Sexual Assault (Second-Degree Felony)
- Indecent Assault (Class A Misdemeanor)
- Indecent Exposure (Class B Misdemeanor)
Separate Park Incident Exposed
Within 24 hours of his capture, sex crimes detectives successfully linked Lacy to an unsolved case at the exact same park.
On Tuesday, June 2, 2026, prosecutors tacked on additional warrants tied to a morning incident on May 15, 2026. In that case, an adult female reported that a man matching Lacy’s description exposed himself directly to her and her young child while they were using the park facilities.
For the May 15 incident, Lacy faces additional charges of:
- Indecency with a Child (Third-Degree Felony)
- Indecent Exposure (Class B Misdemeanor)
Search for Additional Victims
Because Lacy’s alleged behavior escalated from exposure to physical sexual assault within the span of a few weeks at the same public park, APD investigators are deeply concerned that other parkgoers may have been targeted.
Detectives believe there may be more victims in the community who have not yet come forward. The APD Sex Crimes Unit is issuing a widespread public appeal, encouraging anyone who has had suspicious contact with Lacy or who has witnessed similar behavior in the area to contact them directly at 512-974-5095.
