Pearland Police Investigating Fatal Fiery Rollover Crash on SH 288 Toll Ramp

PEARLAND, Texas – Pearland Police Department is investigating a deadly single-vehicle rollover crash that left one person dead and three others hospitalized early Thursday morning.
According to police, officers responded around 1:08 a.m. on May 21 to the 15500 block of the southbound State Highway 288 Toll Road ramp after receiving reports of a rollover crash with possible entrapment.
When officers arrived, they found the vehicle engulfed in flames with four occupants trapped inside.
Police said three occupants appeared unresponsive as officers immediately began trying to extinguish the fire and rescue those inside until Pearland Fire Department crews arrived.
Firefighters were able to extricate three occupants from the vehicle, and they were transported to area hospitals for treatment. One occupant was pronounced dead at the scene.
Toll Road Closed During Investigation

are all assisting in the investigation.
Due to the severity of the crash and damage to the guardrail, all southbound traffic on the SH 288 Toll Road has been diverted.
Officials said the toll road remains temporarily inaccessible from the Hughes Ranch and Discovery Bay entrance ramps while repairs and safety inspections are completed.
Texas Department of Transportation has been notified and is assisting with roadway safety efforts before the highway can reopen.
