GALVESTON COUNTY, Texas — Two men were arrested following an undercover narcotics operation conducted by the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office Organized Crime Task Force that led to the seizure of more than 120 kilograms of controlled substances, according to authorities.

The operation was carried out May 14, 2026, in coordination with Homeland Security Investigations and the League City Police Department.

Investigators arranged a controlled delivery of a package containing approximately 15.2 kilograms of Tapentadol tablets to 30-year-old Syed Ahmed at the Shell Gas Station where he worked, officials said.

Authorities said Ahmed accepted the package and left the business before detectives conducted a traffic stop.

During questioning, investigators said Ahmed admitted to possessing additional narcotics at the University Green Apartments.

Detectives later executed a search warrant at the apartment, leading to the recovery of more narcotics and the arrest of a second suspect identified as Mohammed Ahmed.

Authorities reported seizing approximately 59 kilograms of Carisoprodol, 34.9 kilograms of Tapentadol, 4.5 kilograms of Zolpidem, 7.4 kilograms of Modafinil, 3.6 kilograms of Pregabalin, and 11.6 kilograms of Sildenafil.

Both suspects were charged with two counts of Delivery of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1 greater than or equal to 400 grams, investigators said.
