Two Arrested in $70K Off-Road Vehicle Theft Case in Chambers County

CHAMBERS COUNTY, Texas — Two suspects have been arrested following a months-long investigation into the theft of multiple off-road vehicles from a Baytown business, according to the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies initially responded Jan. 25, 2026, to an alarm at Gene’s Polaris in the 12000 block of Interstate 10, where they discovered three off-road vehicles had been stolen. The vehicles were valued at more than $70,000 combined.

The Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division launched an extensive investigation, conducting surveillance, analyzing evidence and interviewing individuals connected to the case.

Authorities said arrest warrants were obtained for Estevan Cruz of Baytown and Daniel Stanley Aguirre Urbina of Houston on felony theft charges.

On May 4, deputies located both suspects during surveillance operations and took them into custody without incident. Both were booked into the Chambers County Jail.

Investigators also reported that Urbina is unlawfully present in the United States.

“This case is a good example of what can happen when deputies stay proactive and keep working a case long after the initial call,” said Brian Hawthorne.

The investigation remains ongoing.
