Man Arrested After Fatal Shooting of Wife, Standoff Ends in Cypress

CYPRESS, Texas – A man has been charged with murder following a domestic shooting that led to a standoff with law enforcement Friday night, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

Homicide detectives responded around 10 p.m. on April 10, 2026, to a residence in the 14100 block of Cypress Falls Drive after a 911 call from a young adult male who reported that his father had shot and killed his mother.

Deputies with the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office arrived and confirmed the woman’s death at the scene. The caller told authorities he attempted to help his mother, but she was beyond help. The suspect had already fled the scene in a silver truck.

Investigators learned the victim, identified as Tynice Friday, had filed for divorce earlier this year and had been living apart from her estranged husband. Family members told deputies she had feared for her safety due to his recent behavior.

According to detectives, evidence at the scene showed the suspect shot out a living room window and forced entry into the home before shooting his wife.

Law enforcement later located the suspect, identified as Keith Washington, fleeing in his vehicle. With assistance from the Texas Department of Public Safety and an aerial unit, deputies tracked him to a dead-end road.

Authorities said Washington refused to comply with commands and fired a weapon from inside his truck, prompting a response from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team.

After a standoff lasting several hours, Washington surrendered without further incident. He was evaluated by EMS before being taken into custody.

Washington has been charged with murder and booked into the Harris County Jail, where he is awaiting his first court appearance.

The investigation remains ongoing.
