Man Arrested for Murder of 21-year-old at Braeburn-area Apartment Complex

HOUSTON, Texas — Houston police have arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred earlier this month at an apartment complex in southwest Houston.
The incident happened around 2:15 a.m. on March 2 at the Woodscape Apartments in the 9700 block of South Gessner Road in the Braeburn area.
According to the Houston Police Department, officers responded to a report of a shooting at the complex and found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
Authorities identified the victim as 21-year-old Jose Luis Escobar Hernandez.
Investigators with the HPD Homicide Division later identified 35-year-old Milton Eleazar Hernandez-Lopez as the suspect in the shooting.
On Tuesday, March 10th, officers with the HPD South Gessner Patrol Division’s Crime Suppression Team located and arrested Hernandez-Lopez. Police say he admitted to his role in the incident.
Hernandez-Lopez has been charged with murder in the 339th Criminal District Court and was booked into the Harris County Jail.
The investigation was conducted by HPD Homicide Division Sergeant K. Persad and C. LaFour, along with Detectives L. Yasin, T. Tyler, and A. Hernandez. The case remains under investigation.
