HOUSTON, Texas — Houston police have arrested a fourth suspect in connection with a fatal home invasion shooting that left two men dead in 2022.

The Houston Police Department announced last week that 24-year-old Jozalyn Lawrence has been charged with capital murder in the 177th Criminal District Court for her alleged role in the shooting that occurred at 7132 Avenue Q in the Greater West End around 3:10 a.m. on January 21, 2022.

Three other murder suspects were taken into custody in December 2025. They were Jacob Lee St John (24), Raul Gallegos (23), and Damien Vega (22). All three were also charged with Murder.

The victims were identified as Juan Ramirez, 41, and Apolonio Alvarado, 37.

According to investigators, officers responded to reports of a home invasion at the residence and found that two men had been shot and a third man had been assaulted.

All three victims were transported to a local hospital. Alvarado was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.

Ramirez was hospitalized in critical condition and later died from his injuries on June 1, 2023.

The third victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released.

Witnesses told investigators that multiple masked suspects forced their way through the front door of the residence and began shooting and assaulting the victims before fleeing the scene on foot.

Detectives later identified St John, Gallegos, and Vega as suspects. Authorities said Gallegos and Vega are currently in the custody of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice on unrelated charges.

On December 9, 2025, officers with the Houston Police Department Southeast Patrol Division’s Crime Suppression Team arrested St John in connection with the case.

Most recently, on March 10, 2026, officers from the same unit arrested Lawrence, who was then charged for her alleged role in the killings.

Police say the arrests reflect the continued work of homicide detectives who have remained committed to pursuing justice in the case. The investigation remains ongoing.
