New Caney Woman Arrested in Husband’s Murder After Investigation Reveals Death Was Not a Suicide

New Caney, TX — A woman has been arrested in connection with the death of her husband following a nine-month investigation by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit.
Authorities announced that 31-year-old Breyanai Moore has been charged with the murder of her husband, 33-year-old Lonnie Moore.
Deputies were first called to the 23900 block of Northcrest Trail in New Caney on June 15, 2025, at approximately 9 a.m.
When deputies arrived, they discovered Lonnie Moore inside a white vehicle parked on the side of the road with the engine still running. Investigators said he had suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head.
Officials said the scene initially appeared to suggest the possibility of suicide.
However, detectives with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit and crime scene investigators conducted a detailed examination of the scene. During the investigation, evidence was uncovered that contradicted the initial belief that the wound was self-inflicted.
Over the next nine months, detectives continued gathering evidence and pursuing leads, eventually identifying Breyanai Moore as the suspect.
On March 4, 2026, Major Crimes detectives, with assistance from the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office Crime Reduction Unit, executed an arrest warrant for Moore.
Authorities said she was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Montgomery County Jail.
Moore is currently charged with murder and is being held without bond.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office also thanked the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office Crime Reduction Unit for assisting with the investigation and arrest.
