Man Accused of Breaking Into Home Through Dog Door, Strangling Woman in North Houston

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — Deputies with Constable Mark Herman’s Office arrested a man accused of forcing his way into a woman’s home and violently attacking her in a North Houston neighborhood.
On February 22, 2026, deputies responded to the 6500 block of Elmgrove Road in the Northampton subdivision following reports of an assault.
During the investigation, deputies determined that the suspect, identified as 32-year-old Giovanni Flores, allegedly entered the complainant’s residence through a doggie door located in the backyard.
Once inside, Flores is accused of assaulting and strangling the female victim during what authorities described as a violent encounter.
Flores was taken into custody and booked into the Harris County Jail. He is charged with Burglary of a Habitation and Assault Impeding Breath, a felony offense involving strangulation.
His bond was set at $100,000 by the 262nd District Court.
The investigation remains ongoing.
