Houston Police Release Surveillance Photos of Suspect in Deadly Chinatown Apartment Complex Shooting

HOUSTON, Texas – Houston police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 9303 Town Park Drive in Chinatown.

The shooting occurred at approximately 6:40 p.m. on Tuesday, October 21, 2025. The victim has been identified as 31-year-old Carlos Padilla.

According to HPD Homicide Division Sergeants C. Ponder and J. Gardner, patrol officers responded to a shooting call at an apartment complex at the above address and located Padilla suffering from gunshot wounds. Paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene.

Investigators learned that Padilla had entered the apartment complex and was followed by an unknown male who exited a black van. The suspect reportedly ran toward the victim, fired multiple shots, and then fled the scene in the same vehicle.

The suspect is described as a male wearing a black ski mask and a red T-shirt. He was last seen leaving in a black van. Surveillance photos of the suspect and the vehicle have been released.
