16-Year-Old Girl Killed in Shooting at South Houston Party, Police Investigating

Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old girl at a large party held at Maceo’s Event Center, located at 4637 Dagg Road in South Houston, around 12:30 a.m. Saturday, February 14.

The teen’s identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. Authorities said she passed away on Sunday, February 15.

According to Houston Police Department Homicide Division Detectives M. Althaus and L. Lovelace, officers responded to reports of a disturbance at the location, where approximately 300 people were attending a party. As officers arrived, they heard gunshots and observed people fleeing the scene.

After the crowd dispersed, the juvenile victim was transported by private vehicle to a nearby hospital. She was later pronounced deceased. A friend who drove her to the hospital told investigators the shooting occurred while they were at the party on Dagg Road.

Police believe the victim was caught in crossfire. No suspect information has been released, and the investigation remains ongoing.
