Teen Killed During Attempted Robbery at Cloverleaf Area Apartment Complex

HARRIS COUNTY, TX — A 17-year-old was shot and killed Thursday afternoon during what investigators believe was an attempted robbery at an apartment complex in east Harris County.

On February 5, 2026, at approximately 4:52 p.m., deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office District 3 patrol responded to a report of a shooting in progress at 250 Uvalde Road.

When deputies arrived, they found 17-year-old Jayden Ford lying on the ground inside the apartment complex suffering from a gunshot wound. EMS transported Ford to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators began a preliminary investigation and learned that Ford had been visiting other teens at the complex when a suspect approached. The suspect, described as armed with a pistol and wearing a hoodie and mask, allegedly shot Ford during an attempted robbery.

Witnesses reported seeing the suspect and several teens flee the scene on foot. A dark-colored vehicle was also seen leaving the area shortly after the shooting.

Robbery is believed to be the motive, and investigators are continuing to follow up on leads.
