Baytown Police Investigate Fatal Shooting of Louisiana Man at Apartment Complex

BAYTOWN, Texas – Baytown police are investigating a homicide after a 32-year-old man from Louisiana was found fatally wounded Saturday night at an apartment complex on James Bowie Drive.
Officers with the Baytown Police Department were dispatched around 10 p.m. on Jan. 31, 2026, to the 1700 block of James Bowie Drive after receiving a report of an unresponsive male. When officers arrived, paramedics with the Baytown Fire Department were already on scene providing life-saving measures.
The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. He was identified as Jerome Harris, 32, of Louisiana. Investigators determined the cause of death was a gunshot wound.
Crime scene personnel and detectives responded to process the scene, and the case remains under active investigation.
